Lincoln Model Ls were developed to compete with other luxury vehicles of the 1920s. They came in a large variety of standard and custom body styles. Only 324 Model L 124-Cs were built in 1926. This one has a rear windshield that appears to be a non-factory addition.

Chronology:

1917 - Henry Leland founds the Lincoln Motor Company - naming the company after Abraham Lincoln.
1917-1920 - Lincoln produced aircraft engines for the First World War.
1920 - Lincoln Motor Company is reorganized to produce automobiles and produced their first car - the Model L.
1920-1922 - Lincoln struggles converting from military production to automobiles and customers are waiting over a year to get their purchased vehicles.
1922 - Lincoln is on the verge of bankruptcy and on the advice of Henry Ford's son Edsel, Ford buys Lincoln and puts edsel in charge of the company.
1923 - Lincoln introduced a custom bodied Model L and sold 7,875 cars that year.
1924 - The Model L became the first state limousine used by a United States president.
1932-1933 - Lincoln introduced the V12 enginein the Model K in 1932 and in 1933 it retired the V8 making Lincoln the first manufacturer in the world to exclusively produce cars with V12 engines.
1936 - Lincoln-Zephyr line is introduced to compete with LaSalle and Chrysler Airflow. The Lincoln-Zephyr was priced higher than Ford but lower than the Model K. Lincoln-Zephyr was also the first Ford to use Unibody construction.
1939 - The Lincoln Continental with a more streamlined look is introduced and the Model K, which was overshadowed by the Lincoln-Zephyr, stopped production.
1946 - Lincoln dropped the Zephyr name.
1952 - Lincoln plant built in Detroit in 1917 was closed and lincolns were made alongside Mercury Montereys and Montclairs.
1956 - Stan Reynolds acquires this 124-C from Calgary Alberta, Canada.
1956 - Ford created the Continental Division, a brand higher than Lincoln and the flagship brand of Ford. The Continental Mark II is introduced. The Continentals were marketed through Lincoln and at US $10,000 were the most expensive car produced by an American automaker, rivaling the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud.
1957 - New Lincoln plant opened in Wixom, Michigan.
1957 - Mark II was withdrawn due to cost of hand-built construction and each unit was sold at a loss and consequently the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham became the most expensive American car.
1958 - Continental adopted the body of Lincoln calling it the Mark III.
1958-1960 - Lincoln in financial trouble .
1959 - Continental brand ends with Continental Mark IV.
1960 - Lincoln introduces the Lincoln-Continental Mark V.
1961 - Lincoln consolidates their lineup to one model line - the Lincoln Continental.
1969 - Ford reintroduces the Continental line with the Continental Mark III to compete with the Cadillac Eldorado.The Continental was not a Lincoln but marketed with Lincolns.
1970 - Continental is redesigned and made larger and remained relatively unchanged through 1979.
1972 - Mark IV introduced.
1976 - Continental Mark IV began creating Designer Editions using famous designers like Bill Blass, Cartier, Givenchy and Pucci.
1977 - Lincoln Versailles introduced.
1977 - Mark V introduced and at over 19 feet long it was one of the largest coupes ever sold in North America.
1980 - Lincoln Continental underwent a complete redesign and became the tallest Lincoln since the Second World War.
1980 - Lincoln Versailles discontinued.
1981 - Lincoln Continental rebranded as the Lincoln Town Car. Through the 1980s, the Town Car sees decreased sales and loses popularity.
1983 - Lincoln Continental name returns as a mid-sized sedan.
1988 - Continental redesigned and became the first front-wheel drive Lincoln.
1989 - Continental became the first domestic brand sedan in the United states to come equipped with standard dual airbags.
1990 - Town Car is redesigned.
1993 - Introduction of Mark VIII.
1995 - Continental redesigned with V8 engine to compete with Japanese and European luxury brands
1998 - Lincoln introduces the Navigator - it's first SUV. Bolstered by the poularity of the Navigator, Lincoln surpasses Cadillac in sales for the first time.
2000 - Lincoln LS, mid-sized sports sedan, is introduced and is developed alongside the Jaguar S-Type.
2002 - Lincoln's first pick up truck, the Blackwood, is introduced. It was discontinued after only one year.
2003 - The Lincoln Aviator, a mid-sized SUV was introduced. The Lincoln Continental was discontinued.
2005 - Lincoln Mark LT pick up line was introduced but again poor sales in the United States led to it being discontinued in the US but it was incredibly popular in Mexico and other markets, continuing production until 2014.
2006 - Lincoln LS discontinued but the Zephyr was introduced, Lincoln's smallest sedan.
2007 - Zephyr is rebranded as MKZ and the MKX crossover SUV is introduced.
2009 - MKS, the first all-new-full-size sedan at Lincoln since 1980.
